Dear Saints of Bethlehem Lutheran Church,
Beginning on Sunday, May 31st, we will be offering two services on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. You will not have to sign-up for these services.
In addition to the precautions that we have been observing over the past two months, we will be roping off pews to maintain proper social distancing.
So that we may be strengthened in the true faith during this time of testing, the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at both of these services every Lord’s Day. We will be observing the following precautions:
- Prior to the service, please notify the elder on duty your intent to commune. Having a total count will help us in preparing for the Lord’s Supper.
- To reduce contact with communicants, only the pastor will be distributing the elements.
- Households will be ushered up to the Lord’s Table one family at a time. Multiple individuals will be invited up given they maintain proper social distancing.
- For those who desire a smaller gathering, Holy Communion will be offered throughout the week by appointment.
We recognize some of these items are different than what you have experienced in the past. We ask for your patience and prayers as we move forward together as the body of Christ.
Ultimately, we continue to take the threat of the Coronavirus seriously. However, we believe, teach, and confess that the only true and lasting comfort and peace for us sinners is through the proclamation of the Gospel. God took on human flesh and blood in the person of Jesus to defeat sin, death, and the devil by His holy obedience, and innocent suffering and death on the cross. It is in the Church, that is the congregation of saints gathered together around both God’s Word and Sacraments, where He pours out the forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and salvation.
If you have any questions, you can reach me at the church or on my cellphone.
Your servant in Christ,
Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Ferrin, IL)
